Expungement Clinic

The mission of the Expungement Clinic is to help individuals maximize their potential. We assist with the record clearing process so that a person's past mistakes do not define their future by limiting access to housing, employment, or professional licensure. Though our focus is on individuals, it is our community that benefits the most when the stigma of a criminal record no longer precludes someone's contributions to society.

What We Do:

The Expungement Clinic Group assists those with prior convictions in Riverside and San Bernardino County by assisting through the expungement process and with the filing of the forms with the court.

A successful expungement can help with:

  • Employment

  • Housing

  • License Restoration, in some cases

  • Closure

Who We Help:

We help individuals who were convicted as an adult of certain misdemeanor and/or felony charges in Riverside or San Bernardino County.

Though we strive to help as many people as possible, there are some cases that we are not able to assist with including, but not limited to:
  • Juvenile charges;
  • Sex crimes involving a minor;
  • Sidewalk vending;
  • Traffic tickets; and
  • Other cases that the law does not allow or that do not meet ICLS’s eligibility requirements.
If you have any questions or are unsure if you may qualify, please call our Intake Team for a free assessment.

An expungement allows you to reopen your criminal case, set aside the conviction and dismiss the case.

If you are granted an expungement, on your official criminal history, the case number will have the words “set aside and dismissed” next to it instead of “convicted.” If a potential employer asks you if you have ever been convicted, you can honestly answer no!  Legally, the conviction is gone. However, it does not completely erase the conviction off your record.

Please obtain a copy of your DOJ rap sheet and County Court records. You can find resources down below on how to start the process.
