Are you a library patron seeking legal assistance? We are excited to announce that to better accommodate clients, our Lawyers in the Library (LITL) program is moving to a walk-in model. LITL offers eligible residents the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a legal aid attorney to get help with a range of civil legal issues, such as housing, expungement, public benefits, consumer debt, elder law, and simple estate planning.
Locations and times:
- Louis Robidoux Library: 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Sun City Library: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Home Gardens Library: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Perris Branch Library: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays, 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
How to get help:
- Walk-in appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon arrival, check in with the librarian at the front desk.
- Clients will be asked to provide income information to determine eligibility.
- Clients should also bring all relevant documents related to their legal issue or case to ensure the attorney can provide the most accurate advice possible.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, bring documentation related to your status. *
- When it’s your turn to meet with an attorney, they will review your eligibility, listen to the details of your case, and, if possible, provide advice or assistance on the next steps. In some cases, you will receive a follow-up appointment with the attorney or another ICLS advocate for additional assistance.
*If you lack legal status and require assistance with an immigration issue or for anyone seeking legal aid on matters other than those listed here, please contact our hotline for further assistance.
