San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Supports ICLS with Generous Grant

We are thrilled to announce that Inland Counties Legal Services (ICLS) has been awarded a grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI). As part of their $12.6 million commitment to supporting essential programs in the Inland Empire and across Indian Country, SMBMI continues to show its dedication to uplifting tribal communities and preserving cultural heritage.

This generous grant will support ICLS’s Community Lawyering Project, a crucial initiative that brings legal services directly to underserved residents of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties by sending lawyers directly out into the community to provide services for underserved residents. With this, we will be able to provide legal assistance on consumer debt, public benefits, healthcare law, elder law, and more to our community members most in need, breaking down the barriers that often prevent survivors of violence, community college students, and residents living in extremely rural areas from accessing justice and civil legal aid.

This grant will also allow us to expand our Lawyers in the Library program, adding new service sites, extending direct legal aid to an additional 150 community members, and develop a volunteer cohort to contribute legal services.

Thank you to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians for supporting our mission to increase access to justice and provide life-changing legal services to our community. Together, we are making a difference!
