The City of Indio and Inland Counties Legal Services, Inc. (“ICLS”) is eager to announce a monumental partnership to assist residents facing evictions and foreclosures brought on by COVID-19.

Businesses have been forced to close, tenants and homeowners have become unemployed, while rent and mortgages continue to be due. The pandemic has increased existing legal challenges for low-income and vulnerable people. To help remedy this, Inland Counties Legal Services will provide free legal assistance to the City of Indio residents impacted by COVID-19.

This partnership will not only benefit residential tenants but also landlords and individual commercial lessees as well as homeowners who are impacted by COVID-19 in the City of Indio. The Tenant Protection Executive Order, Judicial Council, along with local and other protections such as loan modification, forbearance, and other mortgage foreclosure preventions may be available to residents of Indio.

This project will ensure that people are not forced out of their homes, homeowners and landlords receive equal protection, and small business owners utilize resources available to them.
