Consumer Paralegal I, II

Overview of Position:

We are seeking a Consumer Paralegal to join our Consumer Law practice group. Specific areas within the Consumer Group include: debt collection defense, auto fraud, real estate fraud, unfair and deceptive acts and practices, and financial elder abuse. Currently there is a focus on consumer debt defense and solar/efficiency home loans known as PACE. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interviews applicants and clients 
  • Conducts telephone intakes
  • Case Investigation 
  • Advocacy skills to represent clients in administrative matters 
  • Research complex case related issues 
  • Participate in community outreach events and legal workshops/clinics 
  • Provide legal advice under supervision of attorney
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters as required
  • Prepare legal pleadings 
  • Have familiarity with State court local rules and forms 
  • Calendar specific due dates and hearings 
  • Ability to file documents with the court i.e., electronic filing, fax filing 

Desired Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree or paralegal certificate 
  • Ability to understand the objectives of poverty law 
  • Prior work experience in legal service office serving low-income clients considered an asset for employment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field
  • Strong written, verbal and interviewing skills 
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills 
  • Ability to work and collaborate with a team 
  • Patient and flexible 

Benefits & Compensation:

$24.00- $42.00 Hourly
